The Challenge
Independent film production company Fairfield Productions wanted to grow their brand online and find a cost-effective way to attract new business in Toronto’s saturated film industry. Though their website had been up and running for more than a year, they weren’t sure how to optimise it for visibility and attract potential clients.
Rather than launching a large paid advertising campaign, Fairfield was looking for a more organic approach that would lead to steady, long-term gains for a relatively low up-front investment.​​​​

The Solution
I began by carrying out keyword research for industry-relevant, localised terms that balanced high keyword volume (the average number of monthly searches made on Google Canada) with a low level of competition. I placed special emphasis on terms relating to Fairfield production’s specialties of music video production and post production services.
With our keyword strategy in place, I carried out a technical audit on the site and fixed a number of issues that could have potentially harmed Fairfield’s potential to rank in Google SERPs, such as slow-loading pages and elements that were limiting the site’s mobile friendliness.
I then executed a content audit covering the current state of Fairfield Production’s website, the sites of their close competitors, and the local search landscape for the Toronto film industry.
This allowed me to map and execute a content optimisation plan, focused on refreshing Fairfield Production’s current content, creating new pages designed to target its priority keywords, and implementing an internal linking structure to maximise the site’s crawl budget.
I followed this up by building a batch of high-quality, relevant backlinks to bring Fairfield Production’s site authority in-line with its main organic competitors.​
